Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are about 1/4 to 3/8 inches long and are reddish brown to brown in color.

At the beginning of an infestation bed bugs are likely to be found in the seams or folds of the mattresses and bed covers.  As they get worse bed bugs are more than likely to spread to cracks and crevices in the furniture and wall area along bedding as well as wall outlets.

The females can lay 1 to 5 eggs each day and about 200 to 500 eggs within her lifetime.  She uses a clear substance to attach the eggs to cracks and crevices of the bed or baseboards.  Bed bugs develop into adults in 21 days and can live for almost one year.

They feed immediately after hatching and feed mainly on human blood.  They feed mostly at night while you are asleep but will change their feeding times according to your sleep pattern.

Evidence of bed bug activity would be waking up with red, itchy bites, blood spotting on bed sheets, and visual sightings.
